We present the software package FRESHS (http://www.freshs.org) for parallel simulation of rare events using sampling techniques from the ‘splitting’ family of methods. Initially, Forward Flux Sampling (FFS) and Stochastic Process Rare Event Sampling (SPRES) have been implemented. These two methods together make rare event sampling available for both quasi-static and full non-equilibrium regimes. Our framework provides a plugin system for software implementing the underlying physics of the system of interest. At present, example plugins exist for our framework to steer the popular MD packages GROMACS, LAMMPS and ESPResSo, but due to the simple interface of our plugin system, it is also easy to attach other simulation software or self-written code. Use of our framework does not require recompilation of the simulation program. The modular structure allows the flexible implementation of further sampling methods or physics engines and creates a basis for objective comparison of different sampling algorithms. 相似文献

Approximate dynamic programming (ADP) relies, in the continuous-state case, on both a flexible class of models for the approximation of the value functions and a smart sampling of the state space for the numerical solution of the recursive Bellman equations. In this paper, low-discrepancy sequences, commonly employed for number-theoretic methods, are investigated as a sampling scheme in the ADP context when local models, such as the Nadaraya–Watson (NW) ones, are employed for the approximation of the value function. The analysis is carried out both from a theoretical and a practical point of view. In particular, it is shown that the combined use of low-discrepancy sequences and NW models enables the convergence of the ADP procedure. Then, the regular structure of the low-discrepancy sampling is exploited to derive a method for automatic selection of the bandwidth of NW models, which yields a significant saving in the computational effort with respect to the standard cross validation approach. Simulation results concerning an inventory management problem are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed techniques. 相似文献

The quality of a product, based on the number of non-conforming items can be controlled using the np chart. This paper proposes a synthetic double sampling (DS) np chart which comprises two sub-charts, i.e. the DS np and conforming run length (CRL) sub-charts. For the zero-state case, the synthetic DS np chart surpasses its standard counterpart, i.e. the synthetic np and the basic DS np chart, and other np type charts like the standard np, combined synthetic and np (Syn-np), variable sample size (VSS) np, exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) np and cumulative sum (CUSUM) np charts, for detecting increases in the fraction of non-conforming items p, for most shift sizes. The synthetic DS np chart also performs reasonably well in the steady-state case in comparison with other charts mentioned above. Simulations of biological macromolecules have evolved tremendously since the discoveries of the 1970s. The field has moved from simple simulations in vacuo on picosecond scales to milliseconds of accurate sampling of large proteins, and it has become a standard tool in biochemistry and biophysics, rather than a dedicated theoretical one. This is partly due to increasing computational power, but it would not have been possible without huge research efforts invested in new algorithms and software. Here, we illustrate some of this development, both past and future challenges, and in particular, discuss how the recent introduction of modern ensemble methods is breaking the trend of ever-longer simulations to instead focus on throughput and sampling. This has not only helped simulations become much more accurate, but it provides statistical error estimates, which are critical, as simulations are increasingly used to predict properties that have not yet been measured experimentally. 相似文献

During validation and verification of the system for the proper implementation of HACCP principles, it is essential to rely on microbiological data. Considerable science research has been carried out during the last twenty years on sampling and testing of carcasses for hygiene criteria. This includes the preferable indicator microorganisms to be used, in order to indicate the general hygiene of slaughtering procedures, the evaluation of microbiological data gathered and the sampling methods. Furthermore, European Union (EU) and the United States have adopted the procedures for HACCP validation and verification in their legislation. The aim of this review is to demonstrate the relevant modern trends in this field of food science. In conclusion, microbiological data based on the indicators should be interpreted only to assess general trends in the hygiene process of the operator in order to take corrective action. Microbiological results, obtained only at the end of the slaughtering process, do not provide information on the cause of the problem. Therefore, ‘process-based’ microbiological criteria which are based on values measured at various stages of the process, including final carcass values, should be used. Finally, in order to implement an adequate monitoring system, non-destructive techniques of carcass sampling could be used instead of excision. The microbial recovery may be lower, but it is proportional to the excision recovery and therefore, non-destructive techniques, like swabbing with sponges, could be a practical sampling method for the estimation of indicators during the slaughtering procedure and hygiene evaluation. 相似文献

The motivation of this work is to address real-time sequential inference of parameters with a full Bayesian formulation. First, the proper generalized decomposition (PGD) is used to reduce the computational evaluation of the posterior density in the online phase. Second, Transport Map sampling is used to build a deterministic coupling between a reference measure and the posterior measure. The determination of the transport maps involves the solution of a minimization problem. As the PGD model is quasi-analytical and under a variable separation form, the use of gradient and Hessian information speeds up the minimization algorithm. Eventually, uncertainty quantification on outputs of interest of the model can be easily performed due to the global feature of the PGD solution over all coordinate domains. An ignition of methane and air can generate enough air flow to raise mixtures of combustible coal and rock dust. The expanding high temperature combustion products ignite the suspended dust mixture and will continue to propagate following the available combustible fuel supply. If the concentration of the dispersed rock dust is sufficient, the flame will stop propagating. Large-scale explosion tests were conducted within the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Lake Lynn Experimental Mine (LLEM) to measure the dynamic pressure history and the post-explosion dust scour depth. The aim of this effort is to provide quantitative data on depth of dust removal during the early stages of explosion development and its relationship to the depth of floor dust collected for assessing the incombustible content most likely to participate in the combustion process. This paper studies the problem of non-fragile passive control for Markovian jump delayed systems via stochastic sampling. The Markovian jumping parameters, appearing in the connection weight matrices and in two additive time-varying delay components, are considered to be different. The controller is assumed to have either additive or multiplicative norm-bounded uncertainties. The sampled-data with stochastic sampling is used to design the controller by a discontinuous Lyapunov functional. This functional fully utilises the sawtooth structure characteristics of the sampling input delay. By using the matrix decomposition method and some newly inequalities, sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee that for all admissible uncertainties the system is robustly stochastically passive. The configurations of molecular clusters have significant impacts on their growth into fine particles in atmosphere. In this paper, we explore the topology space of the structure of H2SO4·NH3 dimer with a novel sampling technique of meta-dynamics (MTD) method and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. The simulations are carried out at the temperatures of both 50 K and 242 K, which represent the typical high and low latitudes of troposphere. The results show that, compared with only traditional MD simulations, the structure samplings are significantly accelerated with MTD method. Therefore, more isomers of the dimer are discovered within the same simulation time scale. In addition, the results show that MTD is more efficient for circumstances with high temperature. 相似文献
